“It is the greatest shot of adrenaline to be doing what you have wanted to do so badly. You almost feel like you could fly without the plane.” -Charles Lindbergh
So this is what's happening. In a little more than twenty-four hours, I'm
leaving on my own funky book tour--a combination of readings at
some truly fantastic and unique book stores, and Liars' Parties with my amazing blog friends. (Expect lots of pictures.)
What's more I'll be visiting incredible cities that I've longed to see all my life, but never have.
I'll be looking at a different ocean and contemplating the world from an entirely different perspective. I have no doubt my soul will be rocked like a boat.
I'll also be visiting a city on a lake that's so impressive, it looks like an ocean. For the first time in my life, I'll be drinking my St. Paddy's day pint in a pub that's far from New England.
I'll be meeting some of you, who I've come to know so well here in the sphere.
Even better, Ted is going with me.
If any of you are near these areas and have a chance to come and see me, I would be thrilled to see you in person.

How very exciting! Hope you meet many new folks and old friends, sell lots of books and have a wonderful trip!!
Lucky you - and lucky people who get to meet you. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip. As for your book which arrived to much fanfare nearly two weeks ago, I'm ashamed to admit I've just today had time to sit down and open it! Best-laid plans and all that...I have also been woefully absent from Third Day Book Club, as I've been overwhelmed with writing deadlines. Sorry - hope to participate again soon.
Have a great time patry - most of all, have fun!
I'm so excited for you! have a wonderful time!! you deserve it!! can't wait to hear all about it when you get back.
Safe journeying to you and Ted, Patry. We are planning to see you in Seattle. Absolutely looking forward to it.
Marja-leena: Thanks! Next trip I hope to make it to Vancouver.
tara: Writing deadlines--and promotion--have really cut into my reading time, too. Just this morning I woke up thinking how much I miss it! But there will be time later--for both of us. Don't worry about missing the book club; you can jump back in whenever you're ready.
chiefbiscuit: Thank you. Love the new photo by the way.
r: Only wish you were coming, too!
robin: I heard you might be coming last night and I was so thrilled--
(smiling as I type this...)
Have so much fun, Patry! Ted too!

I've got goosebumps, Patry! Good luck and happy trails and all those wonderful things. How fun to wrap up your tour with St. Patrick's Day in Chicago! Cheers! K.
Excellent! Enjoy the ride. You've earned it. :)
Hi Patry! Can't wait to see you! And I worked at Book Passage all through college. It's a great store. Oh, and any snack requests for Sunday?
Have a WONDERFUL book tour!!! I will be living vicariously through your posts when you update us on the highlights!
I was in hopes that Raleigh was on your tour, so I could buy the book in person!
Have lots of fun... that's the main thing! And, if you ever get down to Georgia/Florida... be sure and let me know.
Have a wonderful book tour! It must be so fun and exhilarating even just to think about it. :)
bon voyage
i hope it is all you wish it to be
(still too far for me) :)
cheers
Just reading your post and thinking after all the time you've spent writing, at your desk, now you are travelling with your book. All the best, have fun and enjoy.
Traveling Mercies! I wish I could make it to one of your signings!
I'm looking forward to meeting you Patry. I haven't been able to read your book yet but I WILL be!!!
So close, but so far away. I wish I could make it to CHI on St. Patrick's Day, but I'll be stuck working. When we lived there, my wife swears she's seen the Chicago River dyed Kelly green on March 17, but I've only seen the muddy green that it is the rest of the year. I hope all goes well
You had me really stumped by that "city on a lake" thing...until I realized you meant Chicago. :) Can hardly believe you'll be here 3-1/2 days. YAY!!!
WOW! Already you're off on your adventure! How I wish you were coming to S. Calif. so I could meet you! How fun that you'll be meetimg Marilyn and so many others. Can't wait to hear all about your journey when you return.
Bon Voyage, my friend - enjoy!
Oh, how I wish!!!
Ah, there's no place better to be than Chicago on the Feast of St. Patrick. Or, as we call it here, the High Holy Days.
Enjoy the trip!
No Southern sweep? I'm glad Ted is able to go with you. I'll be thinking about you and I hope you'll keep us posted (pun intended).
The photo reminds me of my favorite lately true story joke: Joe and I were watching a movie in which the characters were preparing to "base jump." I asked him what base jumping was and I thought he said, "you jump off a mountain with a pair of shoes," which very much irritated me because I didn't "get it." Later I discovered he had said, "jump of a mountain with a parachute!"
I love a good belly laugh (as opposed to a belly flop).
Oh, have a wonderful, wonderful time, and enjoy meeting all your adoring fans!
what? no Paris????
it is all so exciting!
so many congratulations to you!
Hi Patry! it was great meeting you at laini's last night! I love your book, and my mother and friend were fighting over the book on the way home! Thanks for answering all of laini's questions, its really interesting to hear what goes on in the writing process, being as all i write are blogs!
Any book events planned down here in the Underworld?
No stop in Paris? Then I'm afraid I'll have to catch you elsewhere. or catch the book, if all else fails.
this is just too funny -- i found your blog a couple of months ago via another blog -- just picked up my latest read at the centerville library so i'll try to catch you there -- enjoying your writer's journey vicariously...
Got here late and now you'll almost be on your way back home. I'm dying to hear all about the trip and to see photos. When is London going to have the pleasure of your visit? Congrats and hugs, Patry.
I hope it's a great trip! Have a grand time and come home safely.
Yay, Patry, you star! Have fun! :-)
bon voyage!!! happy trails!!! can't wait for the tales and pics :)
Patry, I checked out your book at Collier County Public Library. They have 7 of them and they're all out!
Have a great trip! How totally excting for you!
What fun! I'm so glad you're fulfilling a dream. It makes me so happy for you! Have a great time.
Nobody ever comes to Florida.
Just discovered your blogs.
Great.
Good Luck for your trip..
